Marlowe & Rye
A full brand refresh ahead of Marlowe & Rye's autumn relaunch: new mark, palette, and packaging system across their retail range.

Kickoff workshop with the founders, a full audit of the existing brand across packaging, site, and social, and a competitive scan of the specialty coffee shelf. Wrapped with a one-page creative brief locking the tone: warmer, more tactile, less generic-independent-roaster.
Two directions explored: a stripped-back Scandinavian-influenced route, and a warmer, illustrated route drawing on hand-drawn packaging from the 1960s. The warmer direction was selected unanimously in review.
Locking a five-colour system (a deep rust, warm cream, and three accent tones pulled from the moodboard), tested against both matte and coated stock swatches before anything else moves forward.
Action needed
Confirm the palette so we can refine the wordmark and lock type against it
Designing the primary wordmark plus a simplified mark for social profiles and front-of-pack use at small sizes, refined through client review until it's ready to carry across every application.
Selecting a display face for packaging headlines and a workhorse text face for ingredients, care instructions, and the website, tested against the new colour system.
Applying the new identity across the full retail range (bags, boxes, and point-of-sale), including a die-line pass with the printer to confirm the coated stock holds the ink colours.
Final artwork files, a brand guidelines PDF covering logo usage, colour, and type, and a walkthrough call to hand everything over to the in-house team.
